This artifact, lesson plan with accommodations, represents this teaching standard well. This standard is all about various strategies that encourage learners to develop a deeper understanding of the content areas and build skills that can be applied. The lesson plan showcases many instructional strategies that encourage effective learning, such as ways to activate the students background knowledge on the material, and modeling steps for in class activities. Adding in accommodations further helps students who may be struggling to understand the material presented. Strategies such as using visual timers and providing sheets with vocabulary help students stay on task, which causes them to better understand the content. The lesson plan also includes strategies to help the learners build skills that can be applied in other facets of life.

This assignment is really important for me as a future teacher since writing up lesson plans is a big part of teaching. Being able to effectively communicate the content in ways that encourage learners to develop a deep understanding of the content areas is a key aspect of being an effective educator. Incorporating accommodations into the lesson plan is also very important. Having strategies that only allow a portion of the students to learn effectively while others are struggling, are not very effective strategies. Being able to have strategies that encourage every type of learner to develop a deep understanding of the content is vital.
